Assessment and Evaluation

Except for distance education non-thesis master's programs, the contribution of mid-term evaluations to the success grade cannot be less than 30% or more than 70%. In applied courses with only a final exam, the contribution of the final exam to the success grade is 100%.

The student's course success is determined by the instructor giving the course with a letter grade, taking into account the general success level of all students taking that course.

In addition to these letter grades, the following letter-grade evaluations can be made:

a. DZ (Non-Attendance) letter grade; is given to a student who cannot meet the attendance requirement. This student cannot take the final exam. The DZ letter grade; is equivalent to the FF or YZ letter grade.

b. EK (Incomplete) letter grade; is given to a student who cannot fulfill the requirements of the course on time due to a justified and valid reason determined by the Senate. The EK letter grade is shown on the Grade Status Document until a new grade is determined in its place. The student who receives this grade must complete his/her deficiencies before the next semester begins. The EK letter grade of a student who completes his/her deficiencies within the given period is converted to a new letter grade according to the letter grade ranges of that course by the decision of the Institute Board of Directors. If the student does not complete his/her deficiencies, the EK letter grade is converted to an FF or YZ letter grade by the decision of the Institute Board of Directors. The EK letter grade is not used for thesis and specialization courses.

c. KL (Removed) letter grade is given for courses that are removed from the program.

d. YT (Sufficient) and YZ (Insufficient) letter grades are used to show success in courses that are not deemed appropriate to be included in the grade point average by the decision of the Institute Board of Directors and the approval of the Senate. Successful students are given a YT letter grade, while unsuccessful students are given a YZ letter grade.

Students; provided that they receive the approval of their advisor, can change courses, drop courses or register for new courses within the add/drop week of the relevant term.
